Nutraceutical Development Corporation

Endovasc's wholly owned subsidiary, Nutraceutical Development Corporation (NDC) was established to create a nutraceutical pipeline. A nutraceutical is a substance that may be considered a food or part of a food and may provide health benefits.

Endovasc’s first formulation contains a naturally occurring plant alkaloid as the primary active component. The clinically documented results include enhanced muscle mass and strength gains in muscle groups in both the upper body and lower body.

A six-week, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study was conducted to test the effectiveness of NDC's first formulation. The study consisted of 31 males, aged 30-59 years old. The participants were required to have been weight lifting and exercising on a consistent basis for at least one full year prior to the study.  The six-week study required each individual to follow the same diet, without adding extra dietary supplements and to maintain an unchanged, consistent, three days a week exercise program.  Meaning the participants were not allowed to alter their exercise program by adding new exercises to their routine.

In July 2003, Nutraceutical Development Corporation finalized a product licensing agreement with Western Holdings, a subsidiary of Basic Research.  Western Holdings agreed to invest a minimum of $2.5 million for the development, commercialization and marketing of a dietary supplement.  NDC will receive a royalty on all revenues generated by the sales of these products. Basic Research is one of North America’s fastest-growing and most profitable nutraceutical vendors.

Endothil-CR was launched in March of 2005 at the Arnold Classic International Fitness Weekend held in Columbus, Ohio.  The show brought together the world's strongest, fittest and most agile athletes together to compete in 12 sports. What began as simply the premiere event in men's bodybuilding has evolved into the world's largest fitness expo that hosted a record-breaking year with 10,000 athletes and 75,000 attendees for the continuous competition and entertainment.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, former professional bodybuilder, movie star and current Governor of California hosted this year's show.  Governor Schwarzenegger called a special meeting with manufacturers and distributors to stress the importance of eliminating steroid use among athletes by introducing healthy alternatives into body building and fitness programs.

With more than 600 exhibition booths featuring the latest in fitness equipment, clothing and nutritional supplements, the Arnold Classic was the perfect platform to unveil Endothil-CR. The supplement display was viewed by a huge number of people that precisely fit into our target demographic.

NUTRACEUTICAL MARKET POTENTIAL

The U.S. nutraceutical market is expected to grow to more than $28 billion annually. The total market is expected to reap benefits from the aging of the baby boomer population, many of which are affluent, aware and proactive in health issues.

According to the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), in 2001, more than 45 million Americans (over the age of six) trained with some form of free weights, representing a 101% increase since 1987.

Nearly three million high school boys and girls participate in football, basketball, soccer, wrestling and other sports in which increased muscle mass and reduced fat are emphasized for performance, and at the college level, there are over 360,000 NCAA student athletes in these sports.
